There are two NPCs with the name Excavation Assistant who will be referred to under the following names.
1. Pro-Lighthouse Excavation Assistant
2. Pro-Herald Excavation Assistant
Both Excavation Assistants appear in Pottery Grove in Kuro Orchard during the day.

The Pro-Lighthouse Excavation Assistant is aligned with High Archeologist Myrak, Concerned Lighthouse Keeper and Zania in using the shards to repair the Myr Lighthouse to keep The Sleeper in The Verve at bay. They seem very content with their work.
Although the Pro-Herald Excavation Assistant is presumably working for Rivenleaf University, they seem extremely dismissive of High Archeologist Myrak, the Concerned Lighthouse Keeper, and their allies. They also value high renumeration for the artefact that you have found. They seem to be covertly aligned with the Hooded Person and the Herald of The Sleeper.
