This is a fairly involved quest that requires several trips into The Cistern and special items.

NPCs Involved

  1. Uksi
  2. Kuus
  3. Nelj
  4. Kaksu
  5. Kolm
  6. Viis

The Quest

1) Starting the quest

Talk to Uksi in The Cistern, they will give you a Bug catcher's net (you can also purchase one) and suggest you talk to Kuus. Kuus will not be interactable until you speak with Uksi.

2) Quid Pro Quo

Kuus will give you information about their friends' bugs in exchange for a sweet. They will also give you Knots on insect habits which gives you clues to the location of the bugs you will need. The bugs can be caught in any order and you can make multiple trips to The Cistern to complete the quest as long as you battle all the children eventually.

3) Glowing Moth

The first passage on the Knots on insect habits reads

I saw a glowing moth near the cabin in the forest. Something big was stomping around so I kept my distance.

The biggest thing in the game is a Kettem, but the West Wind Shores aren't particularly wooded. This leads you to Ruben the Kettem in Charwood Forest where you will find the Lanternmoth

If you return to The Cistern, an exchange button will show up for Kaksu and you can use the Lanternmoth to battle their tombac snail. Kaksu will say

Haha! That moth of yours sure was quick! Way too quick for my tombac snail!

and return the Lanternmoth to your inventory.

4) Little Stick creature

The second passage on the Knots on insect habits reads

I was...borrowing fruit from the markets when a little stick creature crawled onto my hand. It made me drop my haul and sent me running!

There are obviously several fruit stalls in the Braided Shore, however the abandoned stall in the Old Market in Kasa has a pile of rotting fruit and will yield a Forager (insect).

If you return to The Cistern, an exchange button will show up for Kolm and you can use the Forager to battle their sailor wasp. Kolm will say

Oh...oh no...you won....

and return the Forager to your inventory.

5) Slimy danger

The third passage on the Knots on insect habits reads

There's just this thing about shipwrecks that demands exploration! I found a slimy danger in one of them, I think it was eating the waterlogged rotting wood!

This leads you to the Shipwreck outmark and the Warty thornslug

If you return to The Cistern, an exchange button will show up for Viis and you can use the Warty thornslug to battle their ekke-ptang. Viis will say

Huh. You won...Congratulations?

and return the Warty thornslug to your inventory.

6) Shell with a snout

The fourth passage on the Knots on insect habits reads

I was walking through a tea plantation, I love the smells! I think the shell with a snout likes it as well, it was relaxing on a leaf. Out of all the creepies I don't think I mind that one.

There are a few tea plantations, but the most famous one is Myrt where you can find the Hermit weevil.

If you return to The Cistern, an exchange button will show up for Uksi and you can use Hermit weevil to battle their seartail scorpion. Uksi will say

You actually beat me! You really are good at this! Come see me again if you manage to beat the others as well!

and return the Hermit weevil to your inventory.

7) ...Something

The fifth passage on the Knots on insect habits reads

Ouch, I found this perfect old tower for a new clubhouse but when I reached the top something jumped down and landed on my head! Felt like it tore out half my scalp! No, I think I'll stay in the sewers for now.

This leads you to the Siram Watchtower outmark where you can find the Mirt lippa.

8) Shalir champion

After beating all five shalir players, return to Uksi who will say

You beat us all! You have got some impressive bugs, for an adult! Here! I found this in the sewers, we've been using it as a trophy for whomever wins. I think you've earned it!
