Aha! The warty thornslug, two misnomers in one. The "warts" or "thorns" are in fact small underdeveloped shells that sprout from its body.
As you will discover through your dissection, the shells are hollow and connect to a network of toxin canals which all lead to gland roughly the size of a shelled walnut.
Once you have removed the shells, the gland should be safe to remove as the toxin is only dangerous if it manages to get into your bloodsteam.
