It is assumed that these statues were created during The Elden Age, seeing how its structure still stands today, but there is also speculation that these statues we instead made during The Varhim Age, where the locals repurpose it, and recreated these statues as a farewell 'gift' to Braided Shore before leaving the land in mass.

There are very few Elder Statues around Braided Shore as of Chapter Zero, The Journey Begins, but they hold a lot of mystery on it.

The statues in the overworld all have a 2 Endeavour Symbol Mechanical.png endeavour to adjust it's mechanism. Completing this endeavour will trigger unique text messages.

Lore

Many believe that the origin of these statues dates back to a distant past known as The Elden Age, as their enduring structures suggest. However, there is a fascinating theory suggesting that these statues might have undergone a transformation during a later period known as The Varhim Age. According to this intriguing hypothesis, the local inhabitants may have altered and recreated these statues as a symbolic farewell to their beloved land, the Braided Shore, before leaving the region in large numbers. This theory gains credibility from the findings of the renowned Varhim Scholar.

Support for the Varhim theory is further bolstered by information found in text messages obtained after completing the exploration of the overworld statues. These messages shed light on the timing of their creation in relation to an event referred to as "the Day," which is believed to mark the day of their mass exodus from the region.

In the present day, these statues are viewed by the local population as omens of misfortune, adding an air of mystery to their enigmatic history.
