Rumors are an important part of the Braided Shore. This page is dedicated to keeping track of, organizing, and substantiating the rumors heard in the Braided Shore by generic Hunter, sometimes also known as Wood Walker NPCs.

Unlike other dialogue, rumors are not unique to a single NPC or set of NPCs and may be repeated by multiple random NPC characters primarily in the squares and teahouses of the three towns, Myr, Bat Saha, and Crossings. This distinguishes them from the reports of the Town Reporters. Selka, Malku Su, and Sah Basir NPCs also sometimes speak lore in italics that relates to their culture and these NPCs are identified by race. Those sayings are recorded in the page about each racial group.

In addition many rumors are mutually contradictory, speculative, or cryptic and therefore unreliable. However some have proven to reveal quests, secrets, and game mechanics.

Dialogue
Asken folk make their own bonds, unlike the creatures of the forest.
At night the wild is home to other beasts.
Folk are not masters then.
There are secrets in the wild places.
Me and my kin live by them.
Shingle, rim, rocks and shore,
water crossings call us, all.
Shade of blossom bough
makes Tea all the tastier
Asken folk trying to outsmart nature. Is that truly wit?
There is prayer in putting your arms around an old tree.
If nature is not enough, what is?
Worry not to others please.
Does the sea? Does the breeze?
Sit with the tides, Traveller
but beware the Vhasam of the deep
A lonely shore, isn't.
If society becomes a burden, wander into nature. There you will find all is as it should be.
The sun sleeps in the sea, as the fox in its den, and hopes in the heart.
Let your natural spirit love what it loves
A wounded heart seals wisdom in the scar.
Watch where you step. Many things grow small and low.
Do not take more than you need. The sun will always rise.
Sometimes the wolves are silent. Be wary then.
A hooked fish still does not recognize bad luck.
Open sun stifles, dark of lea dampens
Seek out the mottled light
May refer to the Elder statues Amble where you will, but never trust sun rays making shade
of those crumbling unknown busts.
