NPCs Involved

  1. Temple Guardian Ran
  2. Deeplander
  3. High Scholar Hemet

The Quest

1) Starting the quest

The Temple Guardians.

Travel to the Dandelion temple in Bat Saha, located on an island that can be walked to from the south-east coast, and talk to Temple Guardian Ran at the right-hand side. They will give you the Temple keeper's blossom, and prompt you to find the Deeplander at the West of Bat Saha.

Temple Guardian Ran Dialogue

Dialogue conditions Dialogue
When you speak to Ran Magic is a language, one that those of my kind speak fluently... You however must strive to learn the basic language and grammar of making and combine that knowledge with the physical rituals of brewing tea and tying Knot-spells. A simple dandelion that grows on this isle is all that is needed to bind the Khelim's Knot... But more advanced skills require more... Precise knowledge of Reagents.
There lives a Deeplander on the main island who can tell you how to search for Reagents in the wild. Give her this flower and she will know that we sent you. Look for her in the Western parts, her song can often be heard there... Farewell, Khelim.

2) Insightful Deeplander

Item Needed: Temple keeper's blossom

The Deeplander (middle figure, holding a cane).

Walk back to the main island and follow the southern coastline of Bat Saha to the far west. Either inside (during the night), or roaming nearby (during the day), a small cave is an unnamed NPC and upon speaking to them her name is revealed to be "Deeplander". She will prompt you to seek High Scholar Hemet back in the town of Bat Saha, letting you know in advance they will only talk to you if you sit before you speak.

Notes

  • It is sometimes hard to locate the Deeplander in her shelter, especially at night. Using a light source to brighten the area can make finding her easier. Listening for their song can also help track her down.
  • The Deeplander will also give you Keen eye in the midst of her dialogue.

Deeplander Dialogue

Dialogue conditions Dialogue
Upon first interaction with a Temple keeper's blossom in your inventory: I see you have been given a Temple Keepers' Blossom, Wanderer. I find it a chore to banter with strangers, but with you I will gladly speak for a moment...You might have already noticed reagents in nature along your Travels. Gathering them requires a keen eye, knowledge of where to search, and patience. I can teach your eye to spot Reagents needed for magical purposes. Magic brews and spell-Knots use many of the same Reagents.Jade algae grows in streams and lakes for instance, while Dandelion can be found on sub-soaked meadows. Knots are not only used for binding spells. Knots are also the traditional written form of the Vellan Language. Learning it can be costly, but I know of a teacher that might help you for free. However he is very strict. He has a house in the upper city...Look for a scholar wearing a yellow coat, And oh! Remember to greet him in the old fashion, by sitting down, or he will most likely ignore you.

3) Vellan Lecture

High Scholar Hemet.

Walk back to the Northeast to the town of Bat Saha, and go to the Northern buildings (called Saha Rise on the map) to find an NPC in yellow clothes.

Use the Action Rest near this NPC in yellow clothes who is initially labelled "Knot-scribe". You will then be able to talk to them, and their name is revealed to be High Scholar Hemet. Listen to their lesson on Vellan writing to finish the quest and receive your reward.
