Princess Sashinja, a member of the Old Dynasty of Kasa, lived during the Third Age.

Lore

During this time, Ovi Talif was ruled by the Summer Foxes, a group of shape-shifting were-fennec foxes also known as the Fennecs. [1] In a notable event, Sashinja encountered one of these Fennec princes being attacked by a horde of giant rats. Seeing the wounded fox surrounded, the princess rushed to his aid with a burning torch, driving away the rats and rescuing the prince. The following morning, the fox transformed into a handsome southern prince, and love blossomed between them. The marriage took place in the prince's realm, establishing a significant political connection between Kasa and Ovi Talif. [2]

In accordance with the events of the marriage, Princess Sashinja received from her mother, Queen Leathides, a cloak known as Manzyre, while Prince Semmethep received the Talzyre. As Queen Leathides said: "To my son I gift Talzyre; the North wind. Around my daughter I wrap Manzyre; the South. Two cloaks to forever guard the lifewind of their lungs." [3] Thus, the connection of the cloaks with the northern and southern winds is reflected in historical events: Semmethep, bearer of the Talzyre, married Ar Hab, and Sashinja, bearer of the Manzyre, wed the southern Fennec prince.

Mentions

Once upon a time, the princess of Kasa sat isolated by her bedroom hearth. Her name was Sashinja and she was terribly alone. Her older brother, who was heir to the throne of Kasa, had undertaken a journey across the five other Braided Shore kingdoms and had not returned for many seasons.

Interrupting her lonesome contemplations was a beast-like screech coming from the courtyard outside her balcony. She rushed out into the moonlit night and witnessed a pack of giant rats attacking a large wounded fox. The fox was outnumbered and Sashinja hesitated not, she grabbed a burning stick from her hearth and swung it at the rats who scampered away when the flames licked their greasy fur.

Sashinja brought the unconscious fox inside and tended to its wounds. When morning came, the fur of the fox melted away and revealed the visage of a handsome southern prince. Love blossomed and he brought her with him to Ovi Talif where the two were wed. And Sashinja was never alone again.

To my son I gift Talzyre; the North wind. Around my daughter I wrap Manzyre; the South. Two cloaks to forever guard the lifewind of their lungs.

Talzyre, along with its sister Manzyre, were gifted by Queen Leathides to her children Prince Semmethep and Princess Sashinja.
