Knowledge

Knowledge is the term for Experience Points (XP) in Book of Travels. It is earned for almost any action performed by the player, from talking to NPCs they encounter, doing repeatable quests, or entering a new location for the first time.

Upon leveling up, you earn a Knowledge Point (KP). These can be considered Ability Points for those used to traditional RPGs. Every Skill from teas to knotspells require different amounts of KP to Learn (or equip to your action bar.) The amount of Skills you can have Learned simultaneously directly relies on your level or KP.

Advanced metrics:

Using a baseline and dividing by the "blips" or spokes of the XP wheel, Level 5 is ~1833 XP and can break down the XP heirarchy as follows:

- The "base interaction" of talking to an NPC or reading a sign gives half a blip every minute (~16.6 XP)
- Small Endeavours or transporting to a new-to-character map is 1.5 blips (~50 XP)
- Warden duels or Kettem kills give 2.5 blips (~83 XP)
- A major story quest (like Temple Guardian) gives 8.5 blips (~283 XP)

Testing and gauging this against later level-ups means the requirements raise by ~61% each time (the Golden Ratio):

- At 9, one needs ~12,800 XP (or 771 base interactions) to get to 10
- At 19, one needs ~1,568,000 XP (94,458 base interactions) to get to 20
- At 29, one needs ~137,500,000 XP (about 8,283,133 base interactions) to get to 30*

* This is ~1,656,627 warden duels in a row, which would require taking ~27,611 hours or 1,150 days of 1-minute wait times between them.
