Equipment is one of the things that determines the player's stats. For the main page, see: Equipment

Armwear

"Decorative, protective or symbolic armbands is a common accessory to clothing and armour in The Braided Shore."[1]

Armwear consists of items that boost your Ward and Force stats. Some may also increase or reduce your talents.

Backpack

"From the practical wanderer's travel pack to the bulky shell fisher's basket and the farmers' humble haversack, a well made carrier is a treasure. Bags and carriers come in different sizes that determine how many items they can hold. They can also feature one or more extra pockets to store even more items."[2]

Backpacks are used for storage, many of which increase your bag space while equipped, but give burden to the wearer. Some may have pockets, extra slots that allow you to store more items. On rare occassion, some backpacks may grant Force or Ward to the bearer.

Belt

"Whatever you need to keep close at hand; valuables, tools or weapons, carrying these items at your waist gives you instant access."[3]

Belts have a variety of stats, some made for combat, others for raising talents. Like other equipment, belts can contain pockets to help store additional goods.

Bodywear

"Weather practical or fashionable, affirming wealth and status or feigning anonymity; your dress states who you are. Or in truth, who you would like your fellows to think that you are."[4]

Bodywear consists of both casual wear and armour, with armour typically possessing more defensive abilities at the cost of additional burden. Bodywear can contain pockets to store additional items in. Some bodywear may affect your talents.

Cloak

"To wrap into for warmth and protection from the elements, flaunt to display status or wealth or to hide you from prying eyes, cloaks come in many shapes, styles and materials."[5]

Cloaks come in many types, including robes, wrappings, blankets, and cloaks. These typically increase speed and ward. On occasion, some cloaks may contain pockets.

Footwear

"Footwear eases the strain on wanderers' feet, protects the tender toes of worker's and separates the wealthy from the poor."[6]

Footwear typically increases your speed, in addition to affecting your talents.

Headgear

"Worn as symbols of authority, personal style or simply to keep the head warm, a myriad of variations of headwear, including local and foreign variations can be found in The Braided Shore."[7]

Most headgear increase your speed, ward and talents. Some headgear is much more defensive, boasting higher ward stats at the cost of burden.

Instrument

"Their humble beginnings as primitive implements to emulate and appease volitile winds, musical instruments are now used by commoner and noble alike to charm and amuse."[8]

Instruments come in many forms, such as lutes or drums.

Main Hand

"Anyone choosing to wear a fighting blade is expected to respect the traditions and codes of conduct and duelling that comes with the given freedom to carry such a weapon. Abusing this social trust will risk branding the culprit a bandit and put a bounty on their head."[9]

Main Hand items consist of weapons used for combat. These weapons have various stats, many designed for different styles of combat. In addition, they appear on the player's character model while equipped.

Necklace

"Whether adhering to local fashion, displaying wealth, status or simply acting as a comforter, wearing eye-catching neckware is a deep rooted tradition among Braided Shore folk."[10]

Items in the necklace category boost the player's speed and ward, with many affecting traits.

Off Hand

Off Hand items have the most variety of items, including umbrellas, sunguards, canes, blankets, and much more. This category of equipment boasts the most variety of stats and effects. In addition, these items appear on the player's character model while equipped.

Ring

"For personal decoration or as mementos, rings have been worn by high and low folk of the Braided Shore since before recorded time."[11]

While not as varied as Off Hand items, items in the Ring category still contain a large variety of effects. Unlike all other equipment, you may wear two rings at once.
